Steve Railsback is not only an award
winning actor, but an accomplished film and television producer
and director. His upcoming projects exemplify his multi-faceted
talents in the entertainment industry.
Steve will portray Robert Blake in DYING
FOR STARDOM: THE ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE TRUE STORY OF BONNY
LEE BAKLEY. The made-for-TV movie starts shooting March 2005
coinciding with the real-life trial of Robert Blake.
Following completion of BONNY LEE BAKLEY,
Railsback begins producing and directing BARSTOW, a
character-driven, total performance, dark comedy. The feature
film was written by his brother Philip Railsback, who also
wrote the acclaimed, THE STARS FELL ON HENRIETTA (starring
Robert Duvall). Dwight Yoakam portrays Mickey; a tattooed
loser, who has spent some time in jail.
In addition, Railsback received accolades
for his role as Duane Barry in the popular FOX-TV series, THE
X-FILES. In the two-part episode, entitled DUANE BARRY (part
one) and ASCENSION (part two). Duane Barry, a former FBI agent,
claims to have been abducted by aliens as part of an ongoing
experiment that they have been conducting, and has a difficult
time convincing anyone that he is sane.
Steve recalls that, “I had never
seen THE X-FILES and had just completed directing my first
motion picture, THE SPY WITHIN starring Scott Glenn and Theresa
Russell. I was in the editing room when I got a call from THE
X-FILES creator Chris Carter. He explained that he wrote the
character Duane Barry with me in mind; it would be the first
two parter (of the second season) and he was going to direct
for the first time. He told me that he was a big fan of my
work. I was so flattered that I stopped editing my film to play
this memorable role, and am still getting stopped on the street
by Duane Barry fans.”
In 1998, Steve co-starred in the FOX-TV
series THE VISITOR with John Corbett, and in 1999, co-starred
in the feature film DISTURBING BEHAVIOR.
Steve Railsback’s philosophy is that
“this business is an investment. You must commit to it,
despite all of the negativity and rejection. You can’t
just say, ‘well, I will do it for two or three years and
see what happens.’ I don’t mind though, because I
can’t remember ever wanting to do anything else. I always
say that I’ve got another performance in me.”
Steve and his wife Marcy, currently reside
in Los Angeles with their son Beau and daughter Eden.
Steve’s daughter Lalesha resides in Northern California.
They are very family-oriented and enjoy spending time together
traveling, playing golf and watching boxing.
